Autism is generally seen as a spectrum condition that impairs social communication, social interaction, and a person's processing of the world around them. Many therapies make the mistake of coaching an individual to mimic neurotypical behaviours in social interaction, without addressing the root cause of the person's difficulties and on the assumption that autism is a "deficit".
Davis Autism Approach is different. Find out more about how we identify and address the root cause underlying a person's challenges. In a richly experiential way, the person is then shown how to add the missing pieces to their identity that will enable them to participate fully in the life that they choose for themselves.

Tessa Halliwell graduated with a degree in Psychology in 1982. After completing a PGCE, she worked as a secondary school science teacher for many years, focusing on developing the curriculum for lower ability sets and researching strategies for those who think differently. She later attained an MA in Education before embarking on a course to retrain as a psychodynamic counsellor. Her career took a new direction after reading *The Gift of Dyslexia*, which answered many questions and explained much of the behavior she observed in the children she taught.
Tessa believes that the Davis programs have found the key to unlocking learning for those who struggle with traditional methods. She now feels privileged to offer the Davis Autism Approach, working with individuals to nurture the seeds of change in their development. Tessa also provides parent workshops and mentoring, empowering parents to deliver the program to their loved ones at home.
